ReWiGo Ministries was founded on August 29, 2006, under the name Tigers Go, which described perfectly what the ministry did at the time: Clemson University students (Tigers) taking trips to New Orleans to provide relief in the wake of Hurricane Katrina (Go).  It began when five college students gathered to find a way to bring together several campus ministries' efforts to provide relief and gather even more to support the relief effort.

X-history1The first official relief trip was in October 2006, when the ministry led over 100 college students and adults to serve in St. Bernard Parish, LA.  During the five years the ministry served in the New Orleans metro area, ReWiGo facilitated and/or led over 7,000 individuals in serving over 1,200 families affected by flooding and other hurricane-related damage.

X-history2As cleaning turned to rebuilding, the volunteers involved began learning valuable home repair and rehab skills.  With these new skills, when a need arose in January 2007 where a family less than a mile from Clemson University's campus desperately needed a leaky roof repaired, the answer was, "When can we show up to help?"  That first workday brought twice as many volunteers as were needed and our ministry's start of serving locally was born.

Since that first workday, over three dozen workdays have been hosted and numerous projects taken on outside of official workdays.  In the five years to follow that first workday, over 300 families in Upstate S.C. have been served by our ministry - a number that continues to grow.

X-history3Along the way, two other activities played a large part in making ReWiGo what it is today.  The first was a nonprofit coffeehouse that started in September 2006 to raise funds and increase awareness for the relief effort in New Orleans.  In its three year existance, Familiar Grounds opened its doors over 100 nights to visiting musicians, coffee lovers, and folks looking for a fun night out to support a great cause.  The second was a mission trip program called Camp Collide, which hosted youth and adults for one week at a time to serve others.  The program included evening worship times, housing arrangements, meals, and a staff to guide each group.  Camp Collide kicked off in June 2007 and hosted 1,100 youth and adults during its four summers.

Tigers Go was officially incorporated as a South Carolina nonprofit organization in February 2007 and received designation as a 501(c)(3) organization later that year.  The name was changed to ReWiGo Ministries in August 2010 to reflect a growing number of "non-tigers" participating.  Co-founders Chris & Ashley Manley continue to be involved with the ministry, with Chris serving as President & Executive Director.
